This week we celebrate the lives of three Jesuits who show us that it’s through both the extraordinary and the ordinary that we can give glory to God:

Tues.: Blessed Dominic Collins felt his life was getting too comfortable, so he decided to join the Jesuits, and on a mission to Ireland, he was besieged by the English who put him to death.

Wed.: St. Alphonsus Rodrigues spent 40 years as a door keeper and through this mundane job became a saint.

Sat.: Blessed Rupert Mayer served migrants and fearlessly opposed the rise of communism and Hitler in particular.

Notices for 21st January, 2018

  1. The Jesuit team, with the Parish Council, has made arrangements for burial in a shroud as an option, using a common Parish coffin to carry the body from the home. The Bombay Jesuits have all opted to be buried in a shroud, as this is the most eco-friendly, it causes the least damage to the environment since a coffin is avoided and it ensures quicker disintegration of the human body. Our care for creation must be expressed in concrete ways. You are invited to choose burial by shroud and to make this known to family. The Parish Office and the Parish priests may be contacted for practical details.
