Wed.: St. Alphonsus Rodrigues spent 40 years as a door keeper and through this mundane job became a saint.

Sat.: Blessed Rupert Mayer served migrants and fearlessly opposed the rise of communism and Hitler in particular.

St. Ignatius had a particular devotion to Our Lady under whose patronage he placed the Society of Jesus. The devotion to Our Lady of the Way is symbolic of the Jesuit who tries to accompany Jesus along the way, as Mary did.

Jesuit Feast this week:

Tuesday 16th May – St. Andrew Bobola. This Polish Jesuit did not differ much from his fellow Jesuits in terms either of pursuing holiness or of his missionary zeal.  He worked in several Polish Parishes and in particular, he worked for Christian unity. Over a 6 year period in the mid-17th century, 50 Jesuits were martyred and among them was Andrew. Fifty years after his death, his body was found incorrupt and from then on a devotion to him grew, with many miracles attributed to his intercession. He is named the Patron of Poland.
